Video Resolution
The higher the numbers the better the edges of the objects are in the game. This setting can have the greatest impact on visual detail and performance, so it is important to pick a reasonable value for your system.

Show All Resolutions
Check this option to get/see a complete list of video resolutions your video card supports. If you have a wide screen format display, you will want to make use of this option to allow the game to run full screen.
Max Texture Size
This effects the details shown in textures of the game. The higher the number the better the detail. We make our best guess at what we think your card can do and suggest not going over it. In some cases you may want to lower it, for performance reasons.
In order to run texture sizes of 1024, you will need to download and install the High-Resolution Texture package from our download page.
NOTE: You need a very high end video card in order to use the 1024 size textures.

Max Frame Rate
The option to limit framerate is recommended if you are seeing blue flashes while running Aces High II or if you are experiencing numerous lockups.
Textures
There are three options in this panel.
Preload in System Mem. - This forces textures for the game to be preloaded into your computers system memory. This option may not be available if you do not have enough physical ram in your computer to load all the game textures.
Preload skins - Skins are what give a plane, vehicle, or boat its color and appearance. Aces High II allows players to design and create skins to be used by other online players. This option allows you to preload all the skins into system memory. It may not be available if your system does not have enough memory. Currently, if you run 1024 texture sizes, you would need well over 1.5GB of system ram to preload all the game and skins textures.
Hardware Vertex Processing
If you have a video card which does not support this feature, it will not be available. Some video cards claim to have this feature, but it does not work. In the advent you are seeing graphics with obvious problems in the game, try removing the check from this option.
However, it is always preferred to have this option enabled as it will enhance the game performance on video cards which properly support this option.
Reset Default
This button will reset the video settings back to their defaults.
Optimize Objects, Optimize Terrain
These two options can have a dramatic effect on performance of the game. They both require your video card to support hardware vertex processing. They also up the amount of RAM needed to run the game.
If you find your computer is running low on system memory, you should first disable a preload option to reduce the memory requirements. If this is not enough, then disable one of these options at a time, to get the memory usage decreased.
You can check how much memory the game is using by using the <Ctrl><I> option, in the game. It will display the amount of system and video RAM being used. You should always have about 100MB if system RAM free to help provide smooth game play.
Go to the trouble shooting page if you are having issues with this part of the configuration
After you are satisfied with the settings (you can always come back here and fiddle some more if you like), press the "OK" button. If all went well, you should see this next.
